Amy Roberts - Sax/Clarinet

Flautist, Clarinettist and Saxophonist Amy Roberts is a multi-award-winning musician from Cornwall. She graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a first class honours degree in Classical Performance in 2011. Whilst at college Amy received the Martyn Edwards Bursary Scholarship for Outstanding Jazz Performance and was selected as the only woodwind student to perform in the finals of the RNCM Gold Medal Competition - the highest level competition at the college.

She has been celebrated in the British Jazz Awards, winning the Rising Star Category in both 2009 and 2011, then topping the Miscellaneous category for her flute playing in 2015.

Mike Higgs - Trombone

"Mike Higgs has been trying to play the trombone since God was a boy, and has now almost given up hope. However, he continues to turn out for various bands locally. He does practice occasionally, but only to annoy the neighbours and reduce local property prices. He can also play the bagpipes,but doesn't. "

Dan Heaton - Guitar

Dan played in various folk bands during his youth in Cornwall. He later moved on to a more jazzy repertoire. He formed a Gypsy Jazz Duo with Pete Sheppard, a fellow physicist.

After a career in the broadcasting industry he returned to his jazz roots following a visit to a Gypsy Jazz festival. Dan and Pete played various venues throughout the South and were featured at Pizza Express Venues.

Dan also formed the Gypsy Jazz band, Manouche, playing various venues and functions.

Dan has recently taken early retirement enabling him to explore jazz of a rather different kind.

Ian Davies - Tuba

.Ian Davies has been playing large instruments in big bands, brass bands and orchestra (mainly in Cornwall) since he was eight. In the mid 1990s he was diagnosed with incurable bandleading and, despite advances in medical science, he continues to live with this affliction. In his spare time Ian likes to buy large shiny things that he really can’t afford. He also teaches brass and saxophones to victims of all ages.
